Awakening Centre Sacred Sweatlodge ceremonies are based on ancient Lakota rituals with added elements coming from a variety of Shamanic and meditation traditions. Andy and Laurel are both Water-pourers, and the ceremonies at Awakening Centre also have a distinct local feel, resulting from years of prayers and ceremony, respecting and honouring the ancestors, elementals and caretakers of the land upon which the Sweatlodge is situated.
The lodge itself symbolises the womb. Participants enter the lodge, known as an Inipi, in sacred silence and then experience the power of heated volcanic stones, blessed water, sacred herbs, prayers and guided meditations.
If this is your first experience in the sweatlodge please refer to important preparation:
Once you’ve read through the preparation, fasting criteria and what-to-bring please book your space in the lodge as the numbers are limited.
This is a very special lodge as it will be co-facilitated by Andy and Laurel on the evening of a total eclipse of the Moon. The symbology of this eclipse is very much a that of a super full moon, astrologically it falls in the sign of Leo, but is situated in the Constellation of Cancer and therefore is highlighting intimate relationships, home and family.
