400 metres / Easy / 20-30 min return – Walks – Linda Garrett Reserve Circuit.
This ‘short circuit’ leads through rainforest, a palm grove and tall wet eucalypt forest dominated by blackbutt, turpentine, brushbox and flooded gum.
Enjoy a section of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk. Along Gheerulla Creek, look for a great barred frog. Birdwatchers may be fortunate to hear the calls of the endangered marbled frogmouth.
The park is a refuge for wildlife and a special place for visitors to enjoy a peaceful native forest. Linda Garrett generously donated the land and locals refer to it as Linda Garret Park.
This small World Heritage accredited park protects a rainforest remnant on the Blackall Range and is home to the great barred frog Mixophyes fasciolatus. The park is a site for continuing frog monitoring.
Remember: Wear sturdy, enclosed boots or shoes. Surfaces can be slippery. Carry drinking water. Plan to complete your walk well before dark. Wear a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent. Stay on marked tracks. Use a map or track guide. Ensure an experienced adult accompanies children. Obey all safety and warning signs. Take a charged mobile phone. Accidents have happened, even to experienced bushwalkers. In case of emergency try calling 000 or 112 if you are experiencing bad reception. Domestic animals are not permitted on the walks.
